Maria Spelterini, Tightrope Walker ( 1853-1912)
Italian born acrobat and funambulist, Maria Spelterini, begun performing at the age of three. One of her death defying feats was multiple crossings of Niagara Falls in 1876,
blindfolded and with peach baskets attached to her feet.
